Multiculturalism and the Jews

David Biale is the Emanuel Ringelblum Professor of Jewish History at the University of California, Davis. One of the world's leading Jewish historians, he is the author of Gershom Scholem: Kabbalah and Counter-History (1979), Power & Powerlessness in Jewish History (1986), Eros and the Jews: From Biblical Israel to Contemporary America (1992), and Blood and Belief: The Circulation of a Symbol Between Jews and Christians (2007). In addition, he has edited the three-volume Cultures of the Jews: A New History (2002-2006) and co-edited Insider/Outsider: American Jews and Multiculturalism (1998). He is currently completing a book on Jewish secular thought and is editing the Judaism section of the Norton Anthology of World Religions
