A warm welcome to Omri Drumlevich, who is our Israel Studies Project visitor for the Fall semester. Omri was born in Kibbutz Ramat Rachel. He danced with Mehola Jerusalem and studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Omri joined the Batsheva Dance Company in 2012 and spent 7 years with the company. (Indeed, those of you who have seen Mr. Gagamay have already seen Omri perform.) Omri is currently teaching several courses on campus. In one of these, the students are exploring the relationship between bodily motion and film--an exploration that will culimnate in a short film that they will jointly produce. Stay tuned for details about a public screening of their project towards the end of the semester.

Omri is also working with students in the Department of Dance on a masterwork by Ohad Naharin that will be performed at the Krannert as part of November Dance (Nov 7-9). For those of you who would like to work with Omri and experience the Gaga movement for yourselves, we are partnerning with the Department of Dance to offer community workshops on November 3rd and November 10th.
