The Program in Jewish Culture & Society here at the University of Illinois is excited to announce yet another virtual event for our students and staff to stay engaged in learning and thought during these uncertain times. The next event will be a discussion of the work of Etgar Keret, who visited campus a couple of years ago to discuss his life and how he got to where he is today. Etgar is an Israeli writer known for his short stories, graphic novels, and scriptwriting for film and television. He is most famous for his work with short stories and has become one of the most prominent authors not only in Israel, but throughout the literary world.
In addition to sharing the video of the lecture, the Program will be hosting a Zoom discussion of Keret’s work on Monday, April 20th, at 5:30PM. The Zoom session will feature Professor Brett A. Kaplan (Comparative & World Literature, Program in Jewish Culture & Society) and Professor Dara E. Goldman (Spanish & Portuguese, Program in Jewish Culture & Society). Both Kaplan and Goldman are professors of literature as well as the former and current directors of Jewish Studies at Illinois.
