Richard Abrams

The Program in Jewish Culture and Society is pleased to announce a new endowed scholarship fund, the Richard Abrams Endowed Scholarship, which will be awarded to a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student. The scholarship is open to students taking Jewish Studies courses, with a preference for the Program’s minors and majors. Richard Abrams has long been invested in undergraduate education and supporting the study of Judaism and Jewish culture. He is an alumnus of the Gies College of Business Accounting Program at the U of I (class of 1963) and the founder and chairman of Surety Capital Corporation. Abrams’ hope for the new endowment at his alma mater is that it will help support our program’s students and that it will promote the understanding and appreciation of Jewish culture and society.
